Spark: I’m not the only one
October 4th, 2008 · by xJane · 1 Comment
I’ve been saying for a while now that we won’t have an election come November. I’ve just had a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that something is going to happen and martial law will be declared. I hope I’m wrong. But I’m not the only one.

Spark: Sinfest gets Political
October 2nd, 2008 · by xJane · No Comments
I’ve long been a fan of Sinfest, but it’s mostly been religious, rather than political in nature. Recently, since one of the characters is a pig, there was a whole Palin lip-stick-on-pig thing that I’m still not sure what I think about. Over at Salon, for their series “Pinched: Tales from an Economic Downturn”, comes Our Cupboard Was Bare, an article that brings focus to the fellow Americans more adversely affected by the non-recession that we’re currently experiencing.

“Don’t you see? I need you, Rock.”

So…my father is dying (stop me if you’ve heard this one). And some days this cripples me to the point where I can’t get out of bed. But most days, I go to the movies, I surf the ‘net, I hang out with friends, and just generally live my life. Like normal. And it is […]

Melancholia’s 31 Flavors
May 20th, 2008 · by John · 13 Comments
Here’s a few:
Bipolar Disorder
Postnatal Depression
Depression with Psychotic Features
Dysthymia
I suspect that my favorite flavor is dysthymia, a sort of bland vanilla version of the depressive mood disorders. I like mine served up with a bit of insomnia, inability to concentrate, ongoing irritability, and a dull but persistent pessimism.
Why bring this up now? And in this venue? […]
