Music Monday: This Night

I. Love. This. Song.
It’s more like spoken-word poetry with a bit of a soundtrack in the background, but it’s so beautiful, so heartwrenching, so awesome.
I love the undercurrent of both sorrow and lack of regret:
There are rules I had to break,
There’s mistakes that I made,
But I made them my way!
And a theme of forgiveness—or its lack—that makes me wonder if the speaker is speaking to a person wronged or to a Divine entity:
I know I’m not forgiven,
But I need a place to sleep.
[…]
I know I’m not forgiven,
But I hope that I’ll be given some peace.
I don’t know much about the artist—the obvious assumption would be that it refers to a dog—but I like to think that its name refers to a laboratory. So commonly white and antiseptically clean, I imagine doctors in long black laboratory coats, in a black laboratory, doing…I don’t know: making Frankenstein’s monsters, creating vampire/werewolf hybrids? Something dark, necessary, and borderline immoral.
