I thought of Lessie Brown while listening to this episode of KCRW’s On the Beat the other day. She’s in law school and learning to play the guitar; she mused a few weeks ago:

She subsequently purchased a uke off eBay. I don’t know the current status of her ukeness (which is totally my new nickname for her, omgs!), but Celia Hirschman reminded me of some awesome ukulele stuff I’ve heard in the past and pointed me to some new uke stuff. So here, for your enjoyment, is your assignment for Music Monday:

(1) listen to (or read, I guess) “the Uke” on On the Beat including the video embedded there.

(2) Check out this amazing version of My Guitar Gently Weeps on the ukulele (perhaps this dude is more deserving of the nickname His Ukeness):and enjoy out the original Beatles’ version for comparison.
