Music Monday: Memorial Day 2010
I’m not a huge fan of war-glorifying holidays, especially when they degenerate into an excuse to eat, drink, and buy to excess. Memorial Day certainly fits that bill. But, underneath the Uncle Sams who want me to buy a new car, there is a respect for those who fell in the wars our country saw fit to send them into.
As most country music does, this song tugs at my heart strings and is always a good song to get me to cry—especially if I try to sing along.
All gave some…but some gave all.
Some stood through for the red, white, and blue,
And some had to fall.
As you do whatever it is you do today to celebrate (or not), spare a thought for those who had to fall.
