One of my 1L friends (who is helping start the secret freethinker’s group on campus) posted this on facebook. An atheist and a feminist! I shouldn’t be surprised, I guess. The two go hand-in-hand, especially given religion’s track record when it comes to gender relations. Anyway, long, but absolutely worth the read: the Original Sin (being, of course, having been born the wrong gender).
Excerpt:
[T]he fear of women and of everything that women represent—the fear of life, of sex, of fecundity, of birth and rebirth and renewal—fosters the kind of death worship that in turn fosters more wars, more killing, more repression, and more pointless misery.
I want that carved on my tombstone…or said at my speaking.

Great article.
And good (or frightening?) to know that BYU isn’t the only campus in America where students are afraid to congregate and discuss “controversial” topic
