Photos: Groundhog Day.

Happy Groundhog Day! I’m participating in a flickr group devoted to this strange unholiday, and I’m taking a representative photo for (roughly) each hour that I’m awake today. Thought I’d share with you all. I will update this post several times throughout the day.

Got up, crawled back into my hole:

Groundhog Day: 2am

Insomnia begins.

Groundhog Day: 3am

Diverting myself with flickr.

Groundhog Day: 4am

Getting tired enough to get back to sleep.

Got up again (wishing I could’ve slept for six more weeks):

Groundhog Day: 6am

Laid around on the couch for 30 minutes until I was awake enough to take on the day. Bobbette is in the foreground, also lounging. CatGirl is scrambling to prep for school.

Groundhog Day: 7am

Fresh ground beans => fresh brewed coffee!

Workaday:

Groundhog Day: 8am

All my stuff was moved from one office to another over the weekend. The bottom right box is labeled "FRAGILE" and "GLASS." The box on top right is labeled "Books."

Groundhog Day: 9am

We have a team meeting every Monday morning. I was the first to find the new conference room.

Groundhog Day: 10am

Unpacking: Sometimes a joy of discovery.

Groundhog Day: 11am

Unpacking: the important stuff–my test server, my PC, and my laptop are back in action. Also, books.

Everything else is optional.

Around the Lunch Hour:

Groundhog Day: Noon.

Haven’t had a Coke in ages, but one of my new office neighbors sent out an email advertising free sodas. Cool office mates!

Groundhog Day: 1pm.

Worked out with Jana at the Anteater Rec Center (ARC). Here she is getting buff!

Groundhog Day: 2pm.

Two of my teammates in their new office space. You can’t see it, but there’s a great view of some academic buildings in the background.

Rest of the Day:

Groundhog Day: 3pm.

Feeling really tired. This calls for a mid-afternoon tea and snack.

Groundhog Day: 4pm.

Bri, UCI colleague and fellow blogger, in all her grandeur. (kindly taking part in my Groundhog Day project)

Groundhog Day: 5pm.

Winding down. Still a few more emails to crank out, though.

Groundhog Day: 6pm.

Commute home: that’s right, it takes me through Middle Earth.

Groundhog Day: 7pm.

Dinner: our schedules are all out of sync, so we each eat separately tonight. Here GameBoy winds down with some StarCraft promos.

Groundhog Day: 8pm.

I should be writing, but I’m too tired to concentrate. Fortunately I can veg out on FaceBook. :P

Groundhog Day: 9pm.

Exhaustion wasn’t enough to carry me through last night, so I’m going to take *one* of these Benadryl substitutes to help carry me through the night.

Tired. Going to sleep now. Happy Groundhog Day, everybody.

Happy birthday today! How wonderful, to be born at the midpoint between solstice and equinox, at the time when the light quickens.
