Spark: Warren’s not just anti-gay

But also anti-woman! A true uniter. See here for his creepy-ass discussion of why divorce is worse than your spouse abusing you (hint: because if you divorce, then God gets to abuse you! And whose abuse would you rather?) Ugh. via.

The Meming of Life weighed in with an interesting opinion about Warren today: Link. He may have a point.

He absolutely has a point, and it’s a good one. I respect that Obama is indeed trying to “heal the divides” between “liberal” and “conservative”, he’s doing a good job of bringing together people from both sides who would never sit down at the same table together otherwise. Do I like Warren? No, I think he’s a bigot & a misogynist. Do I think that, as a symbol, his appointment is important? Absolutely. And I respect Obama and the symbol of Warren. But I still think he’s a bigot and a misogynist.

I think we’re in complete agreement about that. But it’s not as though Warren’s viewpoint is unique.

In the long run, this might actually have a beneficial effect: It’ll cause middle-of-the-road religious types to have a good look at the wacky-ass stuff that hardcore Evangelicals believe, the same way that the kerfuffle surround Prop 8 cast an unwanted spotlight on Mormon beliefs. Any time you can get moderates to go, “These guys are nuts,” they’re much less likely to support them or their legislation.
