I also find it interesting that it tacitly incentivizes educating female children and delaying marriage (till, you know, she’s an adult…).

Recently read an article which I won’t take the time to find about the balance of power shifting to Chinese women due to the unbalanced m/f ratio. Something about how urban women almost require a man to be a property owner in order to even consider him as a potential husband.
