I have to give props to my husband for recently committing unanticipated acts of feminism. At a recent party, a (male) acquaintance was drunkenly holding forth about how women fundamentally change when they have sex (presumably each time, given his justification) but men do not. Therefore, it is astronomically worse for a woman to cheat on her man than for a man to cheat on his woman.
My husband immediately stood up and said, “I’m sorry, but I have to call bullshit!” And proceeded to argue the other guy into submission about the fact that his (the other guy’s) only justification for these statements is the fact that he comes from an insular religious community which has made few, if any, concessions to social progress in the last thousand or so years.
Heart.

I always wonder where comments like this really come from - besides his insular religious community.
Hazzah to your hubby too!

I dunno, I think he’s just like that. His cousin, who we hang out with all the time, comes from a similar background and will occasionally voice opinions that I will call him on having been formed in the dark ages, but this guys is pretty out there.
The other day, he called me “one of those tricky women”, which I took as a complement
He and I have settled into good natured I-can’t-believe-how-wrong-you-are taunts, which I take as progress. Maybe he does, too :-p

I think I’m going to requisition that line, if you don’t mind. It’s so very perfect. I hope any other witnesses to the conversation were given cause to ponder, if not fully agree with your husband.

Yeah, I want to wear a shirt that says ‘I’m one of those tricky women’. Or even better “Yes, I’m one of those women.”.

I think the point the drunken acquaintence was trying to make is that he’s fundamentally boring in bed - and apparently thinks all men are like unto him. doh!
