Between jury duty and studying for midterms, I missed Music Monday. Like the Good Book says, better late than never. Here’s a little something for those of you who like your Jesus to be tasty, satisfying and deep inside your belly. Here’s Tom Waits performing the song on Letterman:
Here’s the song with understandable lyrics:
When the weather gets rough
And its whiskey in the shade
Its best to wrap your savior
Up in cellophane
He flows like the Big Muddy
But thats ok
Pour him over ice cream
For a nice parfait
What? You haven’t had enough of Tom Waits and his heathen ways? Here’s one more then, called “God’s Away on Business”
If you’re new to Tom Waits, and find yourself strangely intrigued by his smoke-ravaged larynx, here’s a few more tastes:
The Earth Died Screaming (Amazon mp3 link, with preview)
Bon appetit!

Um, I don’t know about everyone else, but none of these videos would work for me. I did go to youtube and find some of them though–I love his voice, and the songs are delightfully blasphemous.

vids worked for me, too…although I don’t speak Chivas Regal, so although I could hear & see them… :-p I only know Tom Waits’ name, because, after all, Tom Waits For No Man. Which is all I can think of when I hear it
