incidentally, Wikipedia agrees with me:

The pivotal message is to "think for yourselves" rather than to follow current trends or get caught up in hype. The title, and final line of the song, refer to 'killing' in the sense of performing excellently.

Ah, thanks xJane. That helps alleviate some of the squeamishness. I mean, I knew it was supposed to throw me, but I still couldn’t quite swallow it . . . anyway, being cool is a fun commandment (though one I’m not always sure I “keep” ).

Lessie: I don’t think it’s kill in the sense of murder (or hunting, or bug-squashing), I’ve always heard it as “be cool”. Which ain’t a bad commandment.

Lessie, I think that last line is supposed to throw you. I like the tension between the two last lines (or for that matter, the second to the last line and all of the “thou shalts”:

Thou shalt think for yourselves.

And thou shalt always, thou shalt always, kill.

YES! I discovered this on the radio a few days ago. I’ve not been able to find it in mp3 format, but I love it. And agree with…yes, I think with all of them! BTW, this guy kills.
