Wow, I just finished reading this whole discussion, and I’ve got to say that I got more out of reading this than hours of Sunday School. Cameron, Mark, and Wendy, your civilized debate gives me hope in a world where the many talking heads wouldn’t dream of having such a respectful and orderly argument.
Kudos to Cameron, Mark and Wendy. This is what Mind on Fire is all about. I make no bones about being an atheist evangelist, but I believe that outreach is best accomplished through building dialog and relationships rather than (solely) through heated salvos and rational transactions. I advocate a compassionate, empathetic approach. And if what results is a bit more human understanding (atheists for believers and believers for atheists) or even a more reasoned, question-tolerant faith, so much the better.
