It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s Super Delegate!

If we were to freeze the Democratic nomination process right now (it’s hard not to think about how this might happen–maybe Dick Cheney engineers a virus that targets only Democrats and Ralph Nader), who would win?

As of my 9am tea break this morning, CNN and Wikipedia (not sure which is more reliable) report that Obama has 603 pledged delegates to Clinton’s 590. It was a close battle, and tears were shed and spouses unleashed, but the people spoke and the people who said “Yes, We Can” spoke a little louder, right?

Enter the mysterious superdelegate. Clinton has the allegiance of 193 to Obama’s 106. Adding these into the mix would push Clinton into the lead. Apparently, the choice of the people can be thwarted by the superdelegate. This begs the question: just who are these so-called superdelegates, and what makes them so powerful? Never fear, dear reader, Mind on Fire will cut through this mystery like adamantine claws through robotic flesh.

After some risky reconnoitering, I was able to obtain these pictures of the elusive super delegates. Many paparazzi died to bring you these images, but don’t worry, we’ll keep sending those photographers out there:

It should come as no surprise that these older establishment super delegates have decided to back Clinton’s bid for the presidency. Political analysts suggest that Robin’s support was key to Clinton’s success among gays in California.

Obama’s support comes primarily from younger super delegates, who feel marginalized by the party elites:

The support of black and female super heroines has also given Obama’s campaign a huge boost:

There are still many questions left unanswered.  Who will Captain America support? And if it comes down to a battle between super delegates, will it be televised?  Will Clinton’s Crusaders smash Obama’s Obliterators?  What an epic engagement that would be!  And most important of all–who will take out that evil mastermind, Dr. Doom Dick Cheney?

Cap has got to be a Republican. I bet he’d endorse McCain on account of veteran solidarity.

ahahaha! loved that: esp. the X-Men voting for Obama. I think we should send this to comic blogs out there: who would your super-hero-of-choice vote for? And I’m with Kevin: Cap is a Republican (but Prof. X is a Green)
