You Want Me to Do *What* for Peace!?

According to the folks at Global Orgasm, there’s some scientific connection between individual sexual euphoria and global conflict resolution. To put it crudely, they want you to fuck for world peace. The idea is to have everyone build to a collective mega-climax at the exact time of the Winter Solstice (that’s 10:08 pm, PST). According to the site, their goal is:

To effect positive change in the energy field of the Earth through input of the largest possible instantaneous surge of human biological, mental and spiritual energy.

This sounds a bit iffy to me, but I have faith in the ability of the scientific method to weed out the crap (though this may require repeated experiments to confirm results). I encourage all of you to test this connection between sex and peace. If you’re trying to persuade a partner, the science route may not be the most effective. “If not for me, will you do it for the world?”

    I’m a bit skeptical as well, but open-minded enough to try it. For peace and everything. If you pull my leg (to put it euphemistically ;^) ).

    But seriously, I think it’s true that people who are sexually frustrated are more hostile and violent. This is a huge part of my whole porn thing, to be honest. Enjoy your sexuality in a harmless and positive way. make love not war. :D

    Well, if nothing else, it is really really difficult to launch a WMDs while, oh, otherwise engaged. :)

    Anyway, it couldn’t hurt to try this method of fighting war and promoting peace. Sort of the opposite number of the tactics in “Lysistrata”.

    I saw this last year & was totally into it (my husband rarely needs a prod such as “do it for the world”, but hey) but there was a pretty big uproar on Feministing about how this assumes that sex is good for everyone. And in a perfect world it would be and I’m sure that Global Orgasm is not encouraging rape. I still think I’ll participate, but some food for thought :)

    Elise and BiV, I’ll try to allow for more lead time when announcing these vitally important, potentially world saving events. ;) In consolation, here’s a link to Globalgasm, “a weekly digital orgy with the intent of healing the planet.” It’s like the Global-O, but with less science and more sex (via feministing).

    Sigh. If only lots more sex would solve all of humanity’s problems…

    You know, it totally wasn’t Feministing, my bad. It was WomensSpace, a much harder-core (less friendly) site…and now I can’t find it there, either :-p
