Thanksgiving

I know it sounds trite, but I’d like us all to take a moment to think about & share what it is we are thankful for. I’ve recently been given the opportunity to appreciate the things I have in my life; as is often the case, this is due to the fact that some of the things I appreciate (read: took for granted) I now must appreciate from afar.
My husband’s job is currently on the rocks due to the writer’s strike, so I’m even more thankful for my job. I’m thankful that I have a job that I enjoy going to, thankful that I like my coworkers (I want to hang out with them), and that it pays moderately well. I’m thankful that my bills are not too big and that I have a bike (to cut down the expense of driving). I’m thankful that I have kitties, to keep me company when I’m alone, to keep me warm on a chilly night, and to cry on when I need a teddy bear. I’m thankful for my husband (these are obviously in no particular order), to keep me company when I’m alone, to keep me warm on chilly mornings, and to cry on when I need a teddy bear. I’m thankful for flannel when it’s cold, friends to share my food, and video games to waste my time (and that I have time to waste & the means to waste it).
I just accidentally on purpose (purposefully on accident?) deleted a substantial portion of my data from my computer. But I am thankful for the data I did not delete. I’m thankful that the deleted data can be replace relatively easily or are data that I can live without. I’m thankful I have a laptop, to feed my addiction to the internet, an external drive for my mp3s, and a desk that provides a workspace that I can pretend to work in. I’m thankful for speedy internet, the better to read my many blogs and post my (not as many) posts. I’m thankful for an extra room, free of cats & cat hair, in which I can close out the rest of the world. I’m thankful for a kitchen which isn’t the best but whose quirks I know. I’m thankful for food in my fridge & gas in my fake fireplace.
I’ve spent the last few days eating & drinking with family, so I’m thankful for food in my belly, wood & fire in the fireplace, a good friends & family. I’m thankful that I went on a walk this morning and came back exhausted: it’ll make me feel better about gorging myself later today…
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Lemmie know what you’re thankful for. And stop surfing & go hang out with your family!
