First of all, if you are subscribed to Mind on Fire through the RSS feed, please kill that feed and resubscribe to the new one. I have a hack that’s redirecting the old to the new, but that will likely go away some time soon, and then you would lose your irregular hit of MoF, and that would make us all sad. Resubscribe.

Jonathan and Tammy noticed that Mind on Fire is now running on Drupal (perhaps the ugly blue kewpie head gave it away?). I’ll keep y’all posted on how I like it, but so far, so good. Both xJane and I are excited about the gadgets (polls, for one). I’ve wanted to put “print this post” option on Mind on Fire for years, and with Drupal it took me 3 minutes from Google search to install. Also, we haven’t had anymassive spam attacks yet (*insert knocking sound here*), which is one of the reasons I moved from WordPress.

Why did I switch? Drupal also has a range of tools for creating community, which is always one of the main reasons I keep blogging. Also, I want to do multiple blogs, and WordPress’ solution to this problem is very inelegant (essentially multiple installations).

At any rate, I encourage all of you to create logins–authenticated users can avoid some of the hassles of anonymous ones (esp. if the spam starts back up). And please let me know if you run into any problems. Thank you, too, for the encouragement.

My to do list for the next few days:

• Get rid of the “(not verified)” in the Recent Comments.
• Improve the design (at least get rid of the Drupal logo).
• Fix the image verification.
• Fix the counts on the Archive monthly totals.
• Experiment with a podcast feed.
• Make the URLs a bit friendlier.
• Write an “Afternoon Tea” post.
• Begin posting to my “personal” blog.
