Tagged by Miko: Eight things about me (each should be more revealing than the previous):

  1. I’ve ‘run’ two marathons.
  2. I’ve been fighting writer’s block at the ol’ MoF for the past couple of weeks. But I’ve started writing fiction again, so maybe I have limited daily allotment of creative writing energy.
  3. I once set a bathtub on fire. I can’t leave our apartment or go to bed without compulsively checking to see if the range and oven are off.
  4. My favorite color is chartreuse (it’s also my second favorite beverage, after Benedictine). Since my favorite animal is the octopus, a chartreuse octopus would be a very neat thing.
  5. Some people indulge in alcohol binging and promiscuity in their youth. I listened to Rush Limbaugh.
  6. I have low-level but long running man-crushes on Johnny Depp and Keanu Reeves.  And if my heart didn’t already belong to Jana, I’d like to think that Cate Blanchett and Audrey Tautou would fight over it.
  7. I killed a kitten when I was four or five years old. With a rock. (Now I gently collect spiders in tuppleware and dump them outside.)
  8. I feel that most of the important authority figures in my life (especially parents, in-laws, former church leaders) consider me a failure. I know that I’m not, but I have to constantly argue with the voice of authority in my own head. I think that this may be why I have such a strong anti-authoritarian streak.

I think most of my blog-buddies have been picked, but I’m going to tag Aesahaettr, nee, Tammy, Jeff, Jonathan and Joseph. I think that’s enough for now.

    1) How the hell do you set a tub on fire? Isn’t that the only thing that doesn’t burn up in a house fire?

    Alright all you Limbaugholics Anonymous, you’ve inspired me. There is hope for humanity.

    John, you’ve already seen it but I posted my eight randoms here.

    I killed a kitten when I was a kid too … slammed its head in a freezer door accidentally then blubbered uncontrollably every time it went into a seizure. One thing I’ve noticed about me, however, is that my extreme sensitivity for other living things can turn to cruelty as a coping mechanism. It’s the damnedest thing which I often consider when contemplating the psychology of human evil.

    I, too, listened to & read Limbaugh, but I blame that on proximity to parents (I chose to read it but only because I thought he was intelligent).

    I used to think my presence killed cats since it happened so often around me, even without my intervention.

    Dittos to how the hell did you burn a bathtub?

    I think a lot of people in their young foolish years listened to Rush L. I know I did. I used to go home at lunch from high school to watch him… I grew out of the Conservatism, tho. :P
    I might try to get my list of 8 put together, but I sort of doubt I’ll post it on my site. I try and keep my site to mostly Lovecraftian stuff… So maybe I’ll email you my list… or maybe I’ll MySpace it. :P
