Good Spam.

Even though I grew up eating things like Spam Musubi (warning, potentially NSFA*), that’s not what I’m referring to here. I forward three email accounts worth of messages to gmail, which does an incredible job of filtering out the bad spam. No more (checking spam folder for inspiration) cialis or penile enlargement offers at low interest rates from Nigerian finance minister’s extreme lesbian sister.

My problem is the good stuff that inundates my inbox: (checking again) Amnesty International, Green Party, Peace Coalition of Orange County, Idealist.org, Network of Spiritual Progressives, Irvine United Congregational Church, Nontheist Friends (Quakers), OC Friends Meeting, Darfur Action Committee, Proliteracy.org, Dads and Daughters, American Friends Service Committee, BarackObama.com (ok, some of you may challenge the goodness of that last one), MoveOn.org, New Demographic…and that’s just what’s in my inbox and trash at the moment. I don’t have the time to look at the majority of these messages, and end up (guiltily) deleting the bulk of it.

I’m still reading through Bury the Chains which covers the first modern, concerted public awareness campaign, in which the British public pressured Parliament to abolish the slave trade. Have we become too successful at this sort of grassroots campaigning? Can we support dozens of causes and transform the world? Or do we need to focus on one or two causes in order to be effective agents for change? If the latter, then how do we prioritize our support?

*Not safe for appetite.

Creating new email addresses is really good for getting rid of spam… :P

How can you possibly say that spam musubi could ever be NSFA? Just thinking about it makes me want to fry up some spam and slap it on rice.

I heart fried spam. Altho I’ve not had it in ages, so maybe not so much anymore. I have to admit that I’m starting to become self-conscious about the size of my penis. Freud was apparently prescient with his allegation that I would have penis envy. It wasn’t until I got email that I started to wonder…

I find that Mail, the imaginatively-named mail app for .Mac users, does a pretty good job, although the job it does fluctuates. Sometimes I have more offers for hot lebsian s ex than others…you’d think that they would be more apt to get responses from people interested in their products if they’d learn to effing spell!.

Loyd, I’ve learned that many do not share our enlightened fondness for the canned meat. I mean, it’s salty meat on demand–what’s not to like? :P
I get my fix at the local L&L Hawaiian BBQ.
