South Park is Funny Again!

Which is a relief. SP to me is like SNL is to a lot of people. I didn’t start really watching SNL until it was mostly unfunny, but was always glad when I caught especially funny skits (Jeopardy, anything involving Sean Connery, and Lazy Sunday). I never actually watched SP when it was funny, but everyone in my high school did and could quote freely from it. Which was quite a feat, since it didn’t air in the country we all lived in. I could quote freely from it before I saw the episodes, which I did, on DVD, immediately upon moving home. When I got TiVo, I instructed it to give me all SP, Simpsons, and Family Guy episodes. I am oft disappointed, but! This week’s South Park is fabulous.

It was, fittingly, called the Fabulous Easter Special. Without giving too much away, it’s very Catholic (which is to say, they are the primary butt of the jokes), which some Di Vinci thrown in for good measure. The pope, though he looks like the Emperor from Star Wars, ends up not being the butt of any serious jokes (his wardrobe is mocked). Bill Donahue, on the other hand…well, you’ll just have to watch it. And, you have to watch it.

But don’t take my word for it: my husband found it funny (which is saying something. In his exact words: “The Vatican has ninjas!” which, in retrospect, he might actually believe), and so did Amanda Marcotte (spoilers at her place).

Incidentally, I would pay good money for an mp3 of the Sacred Chant.
