“Misquoting Jesus” Book Group: Chapter Five - Originals that Matter.

Elise has posted her pithy summary of Chapter Five of Bart Ehrman’s Misquoting Jesus. She then posts a personal response on modeling Christ’s character that is definitely worth reading. It’s an excellent example of faith negotiating modern secular scholarship. Once again, you needn’t have read the chapter (or the book, for that matter) to contribute to the discussion.

Have I ever mentioned that Elise is one of my favorite people? I wish I had half as much integrity, smarts and direction when I was her age.

As I read through the various posts (all linked in the left sidebar), it is apparent to me that we’re collectively producing a sort of Cliff Notes version of Ehrman’s book. Will college undergrads write reports based on our posts?

Remaining chapters:

  • Chap 1: Watt.
  • Chap 2: Miko.
  • Chap 6: John Remy.
  • Chap 7: john.white.

Reminder: Please email me (fierymind at gmail, etc.) when you complete your post.

Thanks, John! Very kind of you.

I tried googling the book’s title to see if mindonfire came up, but it didn’t. Had I been doing a book review on this book in college, I would have loved to have come across this commentary. :-)
