I’m working on two posts that were inspired by this month’s issue of Wired, which arrived in the mail on Saturday. This post is the quickie. In one article, there are thirty-eight SF stories, each six words long. That’s 228 words total. Authors include Joss Whedon, Margaret Atwood, Orson Scott Card, Ursula Le Guin. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • Husband, transgenic mistress; wife: “You cow!” – Paul Di Filippo.
  • Internet “wakes up?” Ridicu-NO CARRIER. – Charles Stross.
  • machine. Unexpectedly, I’d invented a time – Alan Moore
  • Computer, did we bring batteries? Computer? – Eileen Gunn

And there’s Hemmingway’s masterpiece:

  • For sale: baby shoes, never worn.

Here’s mine:

  • Let there be light: and…light?

Okay–it’s your turn!

Slightly modified from my conversation with John last night: My rendition of HP Lovecrafts at the mountains of madness (which could posibly be seen as loosely related to science fiction):

Mountains! Cosmic Horror! Madness! wibble wibble…

And now for something a little more Sci-Fi:

Fix rip in time? Sonic Screwdriver!

For the mormons out there, an abbreviated BOM:

And it came to pass. Amen.

“But he never said, ‘a wibble’.” Counts, I suppose, as British comedy, not SF.

    Mine:

Future paradise possible. Future hell likely.

Of course there was the mention of Microsoft:

Microsoft gave us Word. Fiat lux? – David Brin

    My Mormon sci-fi contibution:

I cannot read a sealed book. – Professor Charles Anthon
