I try to avoid quizzes and web-memes, but I fell prey to this one, which I picked up from Veerle’s blog:
Four jobs I’ve had in my life
- Maitr’ D at an upscale Japanese restaurant
- Chick-fil-A crony
- Foreign missionary for the LDS Church (in Tokyo and around Mt. Fuji)
- “Lead Design Technologist” for an international web consulting firm (now defunct)
Four movies I can watch over and over
Four places I have lived
- Nea Makri, Greece
- Sasebo, Japan
- Salt Lake City, UT
- Millington, TN
Four TV shows I love to watch
I really don’t watch TV, but I am a fan of…
Four places I have been on vacation
- Bakersfield, CA
- Paris (the one in France)
- The Isle of Man
- Nara, Japan
Four of my favourite dishes
- (Nigiri) Sushi, esp. saba (pickled mackerel) and unagi (freshwater eel)
- The House Special at Gina’s Pizza
- Arroz con Mariscos (seafood fried rice) at my favorite Peruvian restaurant
- Portobello and ‘Sausage Burger’ at Native Foods
Four websites I visit daily
(besides pilgrimgirl):
- Religion resources for journalists: Religion Link
- My favorite blog of the moment (I am fickle):Bitch PhD
- New York Times
- UCI Library Catalog
Hourly: Google and Amazon.
I visit a lot of sites on a weekly basis. I have news, design portals, blogs, webcomics, etc. all bookmarked in folders by weekday, and I begin each day by opening all of the sites in that folder at once in Firefox (hooray for tabbed browsing!).
Four places I would rather be right now
- Sitting in a street cafe in Paris (the one in france)
- Walking out of a train station in Tokyo, Japan
- Lounging around in Powell’s Books in Portland, OR
- In a hot spring or public bath in Japan.
Four Bloggers I am encouraging to waste time tagging
I’m also going to try to rope in my brothers, Joseph and Josh.

I tried to comment to say, “yes, I posted!” but then it didn’t show up. I FINALLY figured out why. Silly security code.

Where is Nea Makri? I lived in Greece also for a semester. It was great but incredibly foreign to me, as I spoke pathetic modern Greek.
By the way, Happy Birthday!!!!!

Caroline, Nea Makri is NE of Athens, just south of Marathon on the coast. I remember climbing the burial mound for the soldiers who fell at Marathon fighting the Persians.
Where did you live? Did you eat a lot of pistachio ice cream?
