It occurred to me that the so-called War on Terror is our Cold War. Al-Qaeda is like the Soviet Union–ideologically opposed to Us, completely other, as separate in their worship of a hateful, vengeful Allah (unlike the one most Muslims worship) as the Soviets were in their “godless Communism.” No one is safe, no where is safe, for both were/are capable in power and intention of causing death to American innocents en masse.
And both were the best things to happen to the American military-industrial complex and its political stooges. Homeland Security’s color-coded alerts serve the same purpose as nuclear duck and cover exercises, to keep the American populace scared, and therefore submissive and compliant. All who question our government, all who are not “with us”, are against us, are communists, terrorists, traitors.

I couldn’t agree with you more. My wife and I were discussing this with some friends the other night. This time the administration has even more ties to the military/industrial complex and more to gain.
“The Cold War II…this time it’s personal.”
